15、 the American Engineering StandardsCommittee(later the American Standards Association,the United States of America StandardsInstitute,and,as of October 6,1969,the American National Standards Institute,Inc.)with theSociety of Automotive Engineers and The American Society of Mechanical Engineers as jo
16、intsponsors.Subcommittees 2,5,and 6(later designated as Subcommittee 9)were subsequentlyestablishedandchargedwith theresponsibilitiesforthetechnicalcontent ofstandardsforexternaldrive bolts and nuts,round unslotted head bolts,and plow bolts,respectively.The National Association of Farm Equipment Manufacturers had previously appointed a com-mittee to standardize plow bolts.This committee was at work simplifying the list of types theninuse.Itsfirstrecommendationreducedthetotalnumbertoseventypesrep
