15、 the means ofmeasuringcharacteristicsofvariousgeometricalparameterssuchasdiameter,length,flatness,parallelism,concentricity,taper,andsquareness.Sincecalipersarewidelyusedforthemeasurementandcomparisonofsomeofthesefeatures,theB89 Consensus Committee authorized formation of Project Team B89.1.14 to pr
16、epare this Standard.TheInternationalOrganizationforStandardization(ISO)alsodevelopsstandardsindimensionalmetrology.ISOstan-dardsareapplicableintheUnitedStatesbutmaynotaddressalltheneedsofAmericanindustry,suchastheuseofboththeU.S.Customary and SI systems.This Standard has been developed to be consistent with ISO 13385-1:2011,whichaddressesthedesignandmetrologicalcharacteristicsofcalipers.ThisStandardhasalsobeendevelopedtocomplementISO13385-1:2011byprovidingadditionalinformationusefulinthespecific
