8、for the physical placement of a supplemental label onequipment in the possession or control of an entity.5.Significance and Use5.1 There is no consistent method for the physical place-ment of an identifying label on equipment in the possession ofan entity.5.2 This practice is intended to expedite an
9、d improve thephysical inventory and self-assessment processes and otheroccasions in which the instant identification of equipment isneeded for purposes of control,management,or determiningownership,or a combination thereof.5.3 The further intent of this practice is to reduce theadministrative costs
10、associated with activities requiring equip-mentidentification,thatis,physicalinventory,self-assessments,and audits and to supplement Practice E2279,Practice E2452,and MIL STD 130.6.Procedure6.1 When space allows,the label shall be physically placedon the equipment item so that it directly faces the
11、user.Thelabel shall be consistently placed,that is,placed in the samelocation or approximate location,does not overlay the OEMmarking,and can be conveniently read.The placement andreading of the tag should not require movement or the propertynor disrupt any processing that it supports.(See Fig.1.)1T

15、k mounted equipment.The label shall be consistentlyplaced,that is,placed in the same location or approximatelocation,does not overlay the OEM marking,and can beconveniently read.(See Fig.2.)6.3 If for any reason the supplemental label is necessary butphysically impractical,the same information shoul
