11、synthetic.3.2.3.1 DiscussionMetalworking fluids addressed by thistest method include straight or neat oils,not intended forfurther dilution with water,and water-miscible soluble oils,semi-synthetics,and synthetics,which are intended to bediluted with water before use.Metalworking fluids becomecontam

12、inated during use in the workplace with a variety ofworkplace substances including,but not limited to,abrasiveparticles,tramp oils,cleaners,dirt,metal fines and shavings,dissolved metal and hard water salts,bacteria,fungi,micro-biological decay products,and waste.These contaminants cancause changes

13、in the lubricity and cooling ability of the metalremoval fluid and may have the potential to adversely affect thehealth and welfare of employees exposed to the contaminatedmetal removal fluid.1This test method is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D22 on AirQuality and is the direct responsibi
