10、hod3.1 An aggregate or RAP,or both,is mixed together with apreset amount of additives(if shown to be necessary),water(ifnecessary),and emulsified asphalt.This may be a field-blendedmixture(Method A)or a laboratory-blended mixture(MethodB).The mixture is compacted in a gyratory compactor andcured at
11、the specified conditions for a designated period oftime.After the assigned curing time,a rotating rubber hoseexerts an abrasion force on the specimen for a preset timeperiod and the abraded loss of material is calculated.4.Significance and Use4.1 This test is useful for classifying the curing and fo
12、rmu-lation of cold-mixed emulsified asphalt samples through raveltesting of compacted specimens.This performance test shouldbe used to rank the mix conditions and approximate curingtime for return to traffic and resistance to weather damage.NOTE1The quality of the results produced by this standard a
13、redependent on the competence of the personnel performing the procedureand the capability,calibration,and maintenance of the equipment used.Agencies that meet the criteria of Specification D3666 are generallyconsidered capable of competent and objective testing,sampling,inspection,etc.Users of this
