9、 arewaterborne,solventborne,and some 100%solids liquid trafficpaints.If wet film thickness,temperature,and humidity arecontrolled within the tolerances specified herein,this methodcan be useful for relative testing of traffic paints and potentiallyfor qualification of traffic paints for field applic
10、ation in ap-proved specifications.For improved repeatability and mean-ingful comparison of paint samples being tested,consistent airflow over the paint films during testing is important.Althougha no-air-flow(static)test environment is standard,the buyerand seller should agree upon the air flow condi
11、tions,whether itbe static or carefully regulated air flow(see 4.6.1 and 4.6.2).Because of the many variables operative in the field applicationof traffic paint(for example,film thickness,air temperature,humidity,wind speed,pavement type(asphalt or concrete),film profile over pavement,pavement temper
12、ature,pavementporosity,pavement moisture content,and the presence orabsence of direct sunlight during striping),a direct correlationbetween the results of this test and field applications is difficultto obtain.However,relative field performance can be predictedusing this method if the testing protoc
