8、ative determi-nation of residue and oil distillates in emulsified asphalts forspecification acceptance,service evaluation,control,and re-search.This test method can also be used to obtain residue andoil distillate for further testing.This method may not beappropriate for emulsified asphalts containi
9、ng latex or poly-mer;however,some specifying agencies may utilize thismethod and stipulate a lowered distillation temperature.Bystipulating a lowered distillation temperature,the precision andbias statement may not be considered valid.Low-temperaturemethods such as Test Method D7403 and Practice D74
10、97 areoptions for obtaining residue for latex or polymer modifiedemulsified asphalts.5.Apparatus5.1 Aluminum-Alloy StillApproximately 241 mm inheight by 95 mm inside diameter with cover and clamp asshown in Fig.1.The dimensions as noted in Fig.1 are providedas reference for the ease of the user and
11、are considerednoncritical dimensions.NOTE1Residue by distillation results obtained with iron stills areacceptable.5.2 GasketA variety of gasket materials may be used toseal the still providing they withstand the maximum tempera-ture reached during distillation.NOTE2Use of a gasket is optional if the
