3、nd grease(TOG)and total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH)inwater and waste water that are extractable by this test methodfrom an acidified sample with a cyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon(for example cyclohexane,cyclopentane)and measured by IRabsorption in the region from 1370 cm-1to 1380 cm-1(7.25 mto 7.30 m)u
4、sing a mid-IR laser spectrometer.Polar sub-stances are removed by clean-up with Florisil.21.2 This test method also considers the volatile fraction ofpetroleum hydrocarbons,which is lost by gravimetric methodsthat require solvent evaporation prior to weighing,as well asby solvent-less IR methods tha
5、t require drying of the employedsolid phase material prior to measurement.Similarly,a morecomplete fraction of extracted petroleum hydrocarbons areaccessible by this test method as compared to GC methods thatuse a time window for quantification,as petroleum hydrocar-bons eluting outside these window
