3、ved and paved roadwaycross sections,with and without geosynthetics,that are built ina controlled manner and tested using a stationary,cyclic loadapplied to the surface to simulate traffic.1.2 Test section performance from these tests is normallycalculated as a function of life extension,but can also
4、 bedetermined based on structural improvement.Life extension isrelated to the number of load cycles that can be accommodatedby a particular configuration when compared to a similarlyconstructed control.Structural improvements are based onelemental or system-wide stiffness increases.1.3 The cyclic pl
5、ate load(CPL)test is intended to be aperformance test conducted as closely as possible to as-builtunpaved and paved roadway cross sections.It has been used asa tool to compare different geosynthetics;soil types,strengths,and thicknesses;and construction procedures for a variety ofpavement applicatio
