7、aked in dilute nitric acid in aplastic tub in a fume hood,rinsed with ASTM Type I Water,and allowed to dry in a fume hood.5.Significance and Use5.1 This practice is intended for use in laboratories usinglabware for the preparation and analysis of samples collectedfor analysis for metals or metalloid
8、s,or both.6.Reagents and Materials6.1 Purity of ReagentsReagent grade chemicals shall beused in this practice.Unless otherwise indicated,it is intendedthat all reagents conform to the specifications of the Committeeon Analytical Reagents of the American Chemical Society,where such specifications are
9、 available.Other grades may beused,provided it is first ascertained that the reagent is ofsufficiently high purity to permit its use without lesseningaccuracy of the determination.6.2 Nitric AcidConcentrated,16.0 M HNO3,suitable foratomic spectrometry analysis such as spectroscopic grade.6.3 Purity
10、of WaterUnless otherwise indicated,referencesto water shall be understood to mean reagent water as definedby Type 1 of Specification D1193.7.Procedure7.1 Wash glassware and plastic equipment with laboratorydetergent,rinse with tap water,soak for at least 4 hours involume/volume 1+1 nitric acid and w
11、ater,rinse three timeswithASTM Type I Water,and allow to dry preferably in a fumehood.Commercial,automatic systems are available that per-form a similar process.7.2 Alternatively,soak glassware and plastic equipment involume/volume 1+1 nitric acid and water in a plastic tubpreferably in a working ho
