3、sion or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This test method covers the use of a basic microscope todetermine the asphaltene solvency properties of bitumen,crudeoil,condensate or related products,or the combinationsthereof.These properties can be used to calculate the solubilityparameters required to calculate a
4、nd predict asphaltene stabil-ity for blending purposes,refinery unit fouling,processibility,emulsion stabilization,pipeline and tank deposition,and equip-ment fouling.If the solubility properties are known for twoproducts,then the compatibility of potential blend ratios can bepredicted.1.2 This test
5、 method is limited to products that allowhandling at atmospheric pressure and room temperature con-ditions without a significant loss of light end components.Lossof light ends will result in changes in the solubility propertiesof the product and may alter or bias the results,or both.Samples with vap
6、or pressures(VPCR4at 37.8 C using TestMethod D6377)greater than 100 kPa are not suitable for usewith this test method.1.3 This test method is primarily suited to products that arefreely flowing at test conditions.Samples that are too viscousto flow at test conditions,such as semi-solids,may need to
