3、describingmaterial types and pavement types and the application ofsealants and fillers to pavements.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard.The values given in parentheses are for informationonly.2.Terminology2.1 Terms and Their Definitions:application temperature,nthe ra

4、nge of material tempera-ture,as recommended by the manufacturer,that is to be usedwhen installing sealant;for hot-applied sealants,the appli-cation temperature is any temperature between the minimumapplication temperature and safe heating temperature.backer material,na compressible material that is

5、placed injoints or cracks before applying sealant to prevent bondingof the sealant on the bottom of the joint,control sealantdepth,and prevent sagging of the sealant.bond breaker,na material installed in pavement cracks orjoints that is intended to prevent adherence of the sealant tothe bottom of th

6、e crack or joint.chemically curing sealant,na sealant that cures primarilythrough chemical reaction.hot-applied sealant,na compound that is applied in amolten state and cures primarily by cooling to ambienttemperatures.joint,na designed and constructed or sawed space oropening between adjoining pave

7、ment surfaces.maximum heating temperature,nthe maximum tempera-ture,as recommended by the manufacturer,to which ahot-applied sealant or filler for pavement cracks or joints canbe heated while conforming to all specification requirementsand result in appropriate application characteristics.melter,na
