8、.1 A sample of dry aggregate is separated on the 2.36-mm(No.8)sieve.The mass of the material coarser than the2.36-mm(No.8)sieve is determined and the material iswashed over a 75-m(No.200)sieve.After drying,the massof the sample is again determined and compared to the originalsample mass.The differen
9、ce in the masses is determined andcalculated as a percentage of the original mass and reported asadherent coating.5.Significance and Use5.1 This test method assigns a measurable value to theamount of fine material adhering to the aggregate.6.Apparatus6.1 BalancesBalances or scales readable to 0.1 g

15、6 9F).7.Sampling7.1 Sample the aggregate in accordance with Practice D 75.7.2 Thoroughly mix the sample and reduce it to an amountsuitable for testing,using the applicable procedures describedin Practice C 702.The sample for testing shall be approxi-mately the mass desired when dry and shall be the
16、end result ofthe reduction.Reduction to an exact predetermined mass is notpermitted.7.3 The mass of the test sample shall be in accordance withTable 1.8.Procedure8.1 Dry the sample to constant mass at a temperature of 1106 5C(230 6 9F).Conduct a sieve analysis of the aggregatein accordance with Test Method C 136,using the 37.5-mm(1.5-in.),25-mm(1-in.),19-mm(34-in.),12.5-mm(12-in.),9.5-mm(38-in.),4.75-mm(No.4),and 2.36-mm(No.8)sieves.8.2 Discard all material passing the 2.36-mm(No.8)sieve.8.3 Det
