6、specifies a procedure to follow in coolingto standard or room temperature the hot analytical solutionsprepared from tanning materials for Practices D4901,D4905,or D6405.4.Significance and Use4.1 The solubility of extracts is influenced by temperature.The analytical solutions prepared from tanning ex
7、tracts aredissolved or diluted in hot water.It is necessary to exercisecaution in cooling these solutions and to do so in such a wayas to avoid chilling,under-cooling,or uneven cooling of thesolutions.5.Specimen5.1 The specimen shall be the 1-L or 2-L solutions preparedunder Practices D4901,D4905,or
8、 D6405.6.Procedure6.1 The prepared solutions shall be protected from draftsand shall be allowed to stand overnight in an ambient tempera-ture of not less than 23C,nor more than 28C.After theirtemperature has been adjusted,the solutions shall be made upto the mark with distilled water at 23C.Where a
9、constanttemperature room is available,the solutions,suitably protectedfrom drafts,may be cooled therein with advantage.In this case,the room shall be so controlled that solutions in flasks,exposedtherein,shall remain at 24C.7.Keywords7.1 analytical solutions;cooling;tannin analysis;vegetabletannin a
