3、ssary because there are some differences between the material propertytest requirements of ASTM D4066 and ASTM D6779,Standard Classification System for and Basisof Specification for Polyamide Molding and Extrusion Materials(PA).There are also differencesbetween the two specifications in some of the
4、Group/Class/Grade callouts.Designers of new productsare urged to use ASTM D6779 rather than ASTM D4066.1.Scope1.1 This classification system covers nylon materials suit-able for injection molding and extrusion.Some of thesecompositions are also suitable for compression molding andapplication from so
5、lution.1.2 The properties included in this classification system arethose required to identify the compositions covered.There maybe other requirements necessary to identify particular charac-teristics important to specialized applications.These may bespecified by using the suffixes as given in Secti
6、on 5.1.3 This classification system and subsequent line call-out(specification)are intended to provide a means of calling outplastic materials used in the fabrication of end items or parts.It is not intended for the selection of materials.Materialselection should be made by those having expertise in
7、 theplastic field after careful consideration of the design and theperformance required of the part,the environment to which itwill be exposed,the fabrication process to be employed,thecosts involved,and the inherent properties of the material otherthan those covered by this classification system.1.
