11、g-and Ball Apparatus2 3.Summary of Test Methods 3.1 Elasticity or toughness of the varnish may be deter-mined by proportionately reducing its elasticity or toughness by the addition of a standard solution of a resin.The long-accepted use of run-kauri gum may now be less convenient due to a limited s
12、upply of this resin.Accordingly,an equally acceptable resin is prescribed in Test Method A(Sections 4 to 7).Test Method A is based on the preparation of a rosin-pentaerythritol ester,the properties of which in terms of acid value and melting point can be controlled,and on a solvent that is free of a
