3、ated in a50-mm 2-in.or 25-mm 1-in.pour thickness in a laboratorysetting.The test method provides for the assessment of uppersurface plate contact area(bearing area).These grouts willtypically be at least two component formulations that may beused for installations where grout thickness will range fr

4、om 25to 150 mm 1 to 6 in.underneath the base or plates beinggrouted.1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard.The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents;therefore,eachsystem shall be used independently of the other.Combini

8、4.4.Summary of Test Method4.1 Polymer machinery grout of a flowable consistency ispoured into a hopper at one end of a shallow plastic trough witha clear plastic cover plate.4.2 A movable gate is raised,allowing the grout to flowfrom the hopper into the trough.The times for the grout to firstcontact

9、 the end plate and to establish full length contact withthe top cover plate are recorded and used as indices offlowability.4.3 After the grout hardens,the mold and top plate areremoved.The top surface of the grout is wire brushed to exposeany surface air bubbles or voids,and a visual estimate is mad

10、eof the percentage of grout top surface area that is in contactwith the plate.Visual guides are provided for comparativepurposes(see Fig.1 and Fig.2).NOTE1Two figures are used to visually represent sections of twodifferent types of void distribution as the rating of effective bearing areais based on

11、 comparison from these illustrations.The void distribution andappearance may vary from these illustrations based on the rheologicalcharacteristics of different grouts.It is suggested that a photograph of theactual grout surface be retained after the testing.5.Significance and Use5.1 Chemical-resista

12、nt polymer machinery grouts are usedto provide precision support for machinery or equipment.NOTE2The machinery or equipment or support bases or plates,orcombination thereof,are positioned to the precise elevation and locationrequired.The bases or plates are typically placed on prepared foundationsan

13、d supported on temporary shims or support bolts(jack screws).Formsare installed to contain the flowable grout.The grout is poured around theperimeter in such a manner as to allow the grout to flow around and underthe equipment base or plates.The grout subsequently hardens to providea strong rigid su

14、pport layer capable of withstanding the stresses trans-ferred by the equipment to the foundation.Although the actual machinerybase plate is typically metal and the cover plate in this test uses acrylicglass,different grouts using acrylic glass cover plates has proven usefulfor comparative purposes a
