6、 glazing,point,united millimetres(united inches).4.Significance and Use4.1 These practices provide standard procedures for theproper identification,selection,and use of glazing compoundsfor specific types of glazing applications(see SpecificationC 669).4.2 Face GlazingShould be limited to single lig

7、hts ofglass or panels that do not exceed 1905 united mm(united 75in.)(See Fig.1.).4.3 Channel GlazingShould be limited to single lights ofglass or panels that do not exceed 3175 united mm(125 unitedin.)(See Fig.2.).4.4 The compound should be identified on the exterior of itspackage as to its intende

8、d usage for channel or face glazing andshould state its appropriateness for use on wood or metal orboth.4.5 The compound should be selected for application inaccordance with the manufacturers specifications and recom-mendations for usage.Under no circumstances shall it be usedin a manner contrary to

9、 the manufacturers recommendations.4.6 The compounds described in these practices are nor-mally not suitable for glazing high-rise construction or for usein conjunction with high performance glasses such as heatabsorbing,reflective,insulating,etc.Contact individual manu-facturers for specific recomm

14、 Cut the glass in accordance with the tolerances pre-scribed in the Glazing Manual.35.2.2 Sash to be glazed must be clean and dry.Seal cornersof metal sash prior to glazing.5.2.3 Completely remove oil,grease,dust,moisture,sol-vents,and other contaminations of the sash and glass surfacesbefore the ac

15、tual process of glazing begins.5.3 Glazing Compound,Storage and Thinning:5.3.1 For usage during cold weather,store the glazingcompound in a warm place prior to application.5.3.2 Thinning of glazing compound is generally not rec-ommended,but if absolutely necessary,it should be done bymeans and manne

16、r specified or recommended by its manufac-turer.5.4 Installation:5.4.1 When the face glazing method is used,install the glasswith a sufficient number of clips or points to hold the glass inplace without the glazing compound.This can usually beaccomplished by spacing the clips approximately every 305mm(12 in.)but in no case shall there be less than one clip oneach side.5.4.2 The minimum requirements for bite should be asfollows:Up to 1270 united mm(or 50 united in.)6.35 mm(14in.)Up to 2540 united
