3、xible prefabricated zinc-coatedmultiple-wire tension member is desired as a component partof a structure.1.2 The wire rope is furnished with Class A weight zinc-coated wires throughout.It can be furnished with Class Bweight or Class C weight zinc-coated outer wires or Class Bweight or Class C weight

7、ss A(Table 5),4.1.5 Mechanical tests if required(see 10.1),4.1.6 Special packaging requirements(Section 13),and4.1.7 Inspection(Section 12).5.Materials and Manufacture5.1 Base MetalThe base metal shall be carbon steel madeby the open-hearth,basic-oxygen,or electric-furnace processand of such quality
8、 that the finished wire rope and thehard-drawn individual zinc-coated wires coated by the hot-dipor electrolytic process shall have the properties and character-istics as prescribed in this specification.5.2 ZincThe slab zinc when used shall conform to Speci-fication B6 or better.6.Physical Properti
9、es6.1 Tensile Properties:6.1.1 The zinc-coated wire used in the wire rope shallconform to the mechanical properties in Table 6 prior tofabrication,but the wire test sample may be prestretched to55%of the minimum tensile strength specified in Table 6 priorto conducting the tests.6.1.2 The tensile str
10、ength and the stress at 0.7%extensionshall be based on the actual cross-sectional area of the finishedwire,including the zinc coating.6.1.3 Test SpecimensThe test specimens shall be free ofbends or kinks other than the curvature resulting from the usualcoiling operation.The hand straightening necess
11、ary to permitinsertion of the specimen in the jaws of the testing machineshall be performed by drawing between wood blocks or bysome other equally satisfactory means.6.2 Stress at 0.7%Extension Under LoadThe value ofstress at 0.7%extension under load shall be determined by oneof the following proced
12、ures,depending on the type of exten-someter used:6.2.1 Non-AutographicExtensometerWhenanon-autographic extensometer is used to measure the 0.7%extension,it shall have a gage length of 10 in.(254 mm),andit shall be so graduated that the smallest division correspondsto a strain not larger than 0.0001
