8、lt of a real orperceived traumatic or medical condition.4.Significance and Use4.1 This guide establishes the minimum national standardfor training the emergency medical technician(basic)in themanagement of obstetrical emergencies in patients of all ages.This guide does not preclude additions to or m
9、odifications ofthe management of obstetrical emergencies by the emergencymedical technician(basic)as authorized by local medicalprotocol.4.2 This guide shall be used by those who wish to identifythe minimum training standard for the emergency medicaltechnician(basic)as it relates to management of ob
10、stetricalemergencies.4.3 This guide shall be used as the basis to revise PracticeF 1031.4.4 Every person who is identified as an emergency medicaltechnician(basic)shall have been trained to this guide.4.5 This guide does not stand alone and must be used inconjunction with all referenced documents ci
11、ted in Section 2.4.6 The management steps outlined in this guide are notnecessarily in sequential order,and they will often vary withthe patients age,size,location,and condition.5.General Guidelines5.1 All emergency medical technicians(basic)shall betrained to:5.1.1 Reassess all patients frequently

15、suring manner.5.1.5 Transfer care of the patient to either advanced lifesupport(ALS)providers responding to the scene or an appro-priate hospital or other medical facility in accordance withlocal protocols.5.1.6 Report the patients problem and status to the receiv-ing hospital or medical control as
