4、chine Tool Elements to appoint Technical Committee No.10 to prepare a standard covering Circular and Dovetail Tool Blanks and Their Holders.Because individual screw machine manufacturers had been establishing their own sizes of blanks and holders,tools could only be used in the machines for which th
5、ey were designed without incurring additional expense,and it was to eliminate this undesirable and uneconomical condition that a uniform standard for the holders and the blanks became necessary.Following the organization meeting of the new technical committee in March,1931,the committee prepared thr
6、ee preliminary drafts.In November,1933,it distributed a draft to a selected list of more than one hundred concerns.Subse-quent changes were made and a section on nomenclature,prepared in collaboration with the Nomenclature Committee,was added.This proposed American Standard was a proved and designat
7、ed as an American Standard in November,1936.FolPowing the publication of the standard in 1936,Technical Committee No.10 decided to include standards for the holding elements.The revision was finally approved and designated as an American Standard in October,1943.At the November,1944,meeting of Techn
8、ical Committee No.10 it was felt that the standard was not satisfactory for heavy work.It was voted to revise it and to eliminate certain sizes and to add others.The proposed revised draft,dated July,1947,was submitted to the members of the sectional committee for vote on a prova1 by letter ballot.F
9、ollowing the approval of the sectional committee,and t e sponsor organizations,this pro osed revision was presented to the American Standards Association for a prova and designation as an American Standard.This standard was developed under the guidance of Chairman Wm.C.Mueller(now deceased),who,u on
