8、mulsified asphalt to mix with a finely divided,high-surface-area material(high early strength,Type III port-land cement)without breaking the emulsified asphalt.NOTE1The quality of the results produced by this standard aredependent on the competence of the personnel performing the procedureand the ca
9、pability,calibration,and maintenance of the equipment used.Agencies that meet the criteria of Specification D3666 are generallyconsidered capable of competent and objective testing,sampling,inspection,etc.Users of this standard are cautioned that compliance withSpecification D3666 alone does not com
10、pletely ensure reliable results.Reliable results depend on many factors;following the suggestions ofSpecification D3666 or some similar acceptable guideline provides ameans of evaluating and controlling some of those factors.4.Sample Conditioning for Testing4.1 All emulsified asphalts shall be prope
11、rly stirred toachieve homogeneity before testing.4.2 All emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing require-ments of 50 C shall be heated to 50 6 3 C in the originalsample container in a water bath or oven.The container shouldbe vented to relieve pressure.After the sample reaches 50 63 C,stir the sa
12、mple to achieve homogeneity.4.3 Emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing requirementsof 25 C should be mixed or stirred at 25 6 3 C in the originalsample container to achieve homogeneity.NOTE2Emulsified asphalts with viscosity testing requirements of25 C may be heated and stirred as specified in 4
13、.2,if necessary.In theevent the 4.2 method is used,the sample should be cooled to 25 6 3 Cbefore testing.5.Apparatus5.1 SievesA 180 m sieve and a 1.40 mm sieve with adiameter of approximately 75 mm,made of wire cloth con-forming to Specification E11.5.2 PanA tin box cover or shallow metal pan of app
