10、rings when subjected toheat,water and various atmospheric conditions.The dimen-sions of the specimen are measured in the original state andafter each stage of conditioning in the lengthwise and width-wise directions.The change in the dimensions are determinedand reported to the nearest 0.001 in.(0.0
11、3 mm).5.Significance and Use5.1 The determination of dimensional change of pile yarnfloor covering is useful in quality and cost control duringmanufacture of pile yarn floor covering.The appearance andperformance may be affected by the changes in the dimensionsof pile yarn floor covering.This test m
12、ethod is consideredsatisfactory for acceptance testing of commercial shipmentbecause current estimates of between laboratory precision areacceptable,and this method is commonly used in the trade foracceptance testing.5.2 If there are differences of practical significance betweenreported test results
