2、es indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This practice covers common installation and mainte-nance procedures for temporary silt fence applications.Thispractice is based on AASHTO M288.1.2 This pract

3、ice is applicable to the use of silt fence as avertical permeable interceptor designed to remove suspendedsoil from overland,non-concentrated water flow.The functionof a temporary silt fence is to trap and allow settlement of soilparticles from sediment laden water by intercepting andimpounding wate

4、r in an effort to slow the transport velocityand provide storage for sediment to be captured.The purposeis to greatly limit the transport of eroded soil from theconstruction site by water runoff.1.3 The practices presented herein are intended to ensuregood workmanship and quality,but do not necessar

5、ily apply tothe concentrated flow applications.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard.The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents,therefore eachsystem shall be used independently of the other.Combiningvalues from the two

6、 systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.5 This practice offers an organized collection of informa-tion or a series of options and does not recommend a specificcourse of action.This document cannot replace education orexperience and should be used in conjunction with professionaljud
