5、ry PigmentThe pigment shall be free of adulterantsand shall contain not more than traces of impurities incident towell-controlled manufacture of high-grade basic carbonatewhite lead.The pigment shall conform to the followingrequirements:Lead carbonate,%62 to 75Moisture and other volatile matter,max,

8、erThe semipasteshall be made by thoroughly grinding the specified pigmentwith a mixture of linseed oil and a small amount of volatilethinner.The semipaste shall not be caked in the container andshall be readily stirred to a uniform mixture which shall mixreadily with oil,turpentine,or volatile petro
9、leum spirits to forma smooth paint of brushing consistency.The odor of thesemipaste,as taken from the container,while drying or afterdrying,shall be not abnormally pungent or disagreeable.Thesemipaste shall conform to the following requirements:Pigment,min,%87.5Linseed oil,max,%10.5Moisture and othe

11、tually agreed upon limits of a standard acceptable toboth the purchaser and the seller.4.Sampling4.1 Two samples shall be taken at random from differentpackages from each lot,batch,days pack,or other unit ofproduction in a shipment.When no markings distinguishingbetween units of production appear,sa
12、mples shall be takenfrom different packages in the ratio of two samples for each 5tons(inch-pound or SI),except that for shipments of less than10 000 lb two samples shall be taken.At the option of thepurchaser,the samples may be tested separately or afterblending in equal quantities the samples from
