7、are de-fined in Terminology D907.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 expandable foam adhesive,nany polymer that ex-pands during delivery or cure to fill the space betweensubstrates.4.Significance and Use4.1 This specification applies to expandable foam adhesivesused to bond the
8、back surface of gypsum wallboard toDouglas-fir dimensional lumber or other lumber species ofequivalent bonding qualities capable of meeting the testrequirements.4.2 The specification establishes the minimum strengthrequirements of the bond for the selected assembly materials.4.3 The adhesive is not
9、considered a substitute for mechani-cal fasteners.Fasteners will be required to restrict expansion ofthe foam adhesive while it cures.The recommended fasteningschedule must appear in the manufacturers application instruc-tions.4.4 The tests are suitable for product performance certifica-tion and qua
10、lity control programs,and can be useful to thegeneral public,adhesive manufacturers,distributors,specifiers,architects,contractors,testing laboratories and other businessesand professionals.4.5 The results do not include all possible conditions,whichmay occur during final assembly,but indicate a set
11、 of perfor-mance characteristics for laboratory controlled bonding vari-ables.5.Adhesive Physical Property Requirements5.1 Open Assembly TimeThese adhesives have a distinctopen assembly time and this time must be agreed upon by theuser and the manufacturer.5.2 Storage LifeThe adhesive shall remain s
