11、6.Test Specimen6.1 Cut a minimum of three 51 by 229 mm 2 by 9 in.orlarger specimens.Specimens may be Test Method D4977abrasion test samples.6.2 Care should be taken so that granules do not transferfrom one specimen to another.7.Preparation of Apparatus7.1 Place the specimen to be examined on a flat
12、surface andarrange the light source and magnifier so that the sample can beplainly viewed.7.2 Abrasion test 51 by 229 mm 2 by 9 in.specimens canbe examined by removing the clamping tray from the abrasiontest machine and clamping the overlay grid directly over thespecimen(see Fig.2).1This test method

16、 by 159 mm 1.25 by 6.25 in.portion of the grid should bealigned with the abraded area of the sample.NOTE1If Test Method D4977 abrasion test samples are beingevaluated,a felt tip marker can be used to scribe a line at the bottom edgeof the test brush while the sample is still in the test fixture.This line canlater be used to align the overlay grid with the abrasion pattern of the testbrush.8.3 Secure the overlay grid to the sample so that it remainsin place during the test.NOTE2Push pins can be u
