3、the endur-ance(wear)life and load carrying capacity of thin film fluidlubricants that are intended to operate after a single applicationand after excess material has drained from the contact area ofsliding metal to metal surfaces,and which operates in whatfunctionally is a drain and dry mode with no

4、 additionallubricant being applied.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as thestandard except where equipment is supplied using inch-poundunits which would then be regarded as the standard.The valuesin parenthesis are given for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to a

8、raining from the surface leaving behind a thin filmthat remains wet and must act as a lubricant on its own,withoutbenefit of recirculation or continuous supply.3.1.2 Newtonian flow,na Newtonian liquid is one thatflows immediately on application of even the smallest force,and for which the rate of fl

9、ow is directly proportional to theforce applied.3.1.3 non-Newtonian flow,na non-Newtonian liquid isone whose viscosity depends on the rate of shear.Some willnot flow until the force applied is greater than a definite valuecalled the yield point.3.1.4 thin film fluid lubricant,nfluid lubricants consi

10、stingof a primary liquid with or without additives of lubricatingpowders and without binders or adhesives,which form a filmon one or both surfaces to be lubricated and perform theirfunction after application and after excess material has drainedfrom the application area,and without additional materi

13、before failure under a constant loaded condition,in minutes,inwhich the applied test lubricant performs its function.3.2.3 gage load,nthe value obtained from the gage whilerunning the test after being corrected to the standard curveusing the calibration procedure for the 4500-lbf(20 000-N)reference
