10、ven along with options fordetermining the period of exposure and evaluating results.4.Significance and Use4.1 Tests conducted according to this practice are used tocompare the weathering characteristics of bituminous materialsversus a control material of known outdoor durability.It is notpossible to
11、 establish a single relationship that is applicable toall materials between time in accelerated tests conductedaccording to this practice and time in natural weatheringbecause(1)there are geographical climatic variations,localweather variations,and variations in local pollutants,and(2)the relation b
12、etween accelerated and natural weathering ismaterial dependent with differences in acceleration factorsbetween materials as well as for different formulations of thesame material.Guide G141 provides guidance regarding vari-ability in outdoor and accelerated weathering tests and aboutthe use of contr
13、ol materials.NOTE1It is recommended that outdoor weathering be used to validatethe laboratory accelerated test in terms of performance ranking.NOTE2This practice can be used for other than bituminous materials,but the significance and use have not been evaluated.5.Apparatus5.1 The xenon-arc apparatu
