7、oven at a specifiedelevated temperature for a known period of time.4.2 This practice specifies an exposure temperature of 70 63C(158 6 5F)in a forced-ventilation oven.4.3 This practice permits the selection of the duration ofheat exposure from three specified time periods,which are 35,90,and 180 6 0
8、.25 consecutive days.The duration selectedmust be included in any report of results obtained by using thispractice.NOTE1The time period to be used should be specified in any standardthat refers to this practice.European standards for polymer-modifiedbituminous materials specify 180 days at 70C.For r
9、esearch purposes,selection of other time periods and temperatures are permitted,providedthat the precise duration is stated in any report of results.4.4 This practice is also used to condition test specimens fortime periods much shorter than 35 days for the purpose ofconditioning material before tes
10、ting.When used for thispurpose,the shorter conditioning time shall be specified in anyreport of test results.5.Significance and Use5.1 Roofing and waterproofing materials and systems un-dergo changes in physical properties as a result of beingsubjected to heat.They also undergo changes in physicalpr
11、operties as they age in service.Since service conditions varywidely,any relationship between changes observed in thispractice and changes in service must be established by the userof this practice.6.Apparatus6.1 OvenThe oven shall have forced ventilation,shall beelectrically heated,and shall conform
12、 to the requirements ofSpecification E145,Type IIB.The oven shall be of sufficientsize to accommodate the size and number of specimensselected by the user of this practice.6.2 ThermometerThe thermometer shall be an ASTMthermometer,conforming to the requirements for thermometerS12C(or S12F)in accorda
