2、er in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 These test methods are used to indicate the fire-producing or fire-sustaining potential of wastes.The followingtest methods can be applied to

3、waste liquids,sludges,or solids:SectionsTest Method ATest Specimen Exposed to Heat andFlame8 10Test Method BTest Specimen Exposed to Spark Source11 and 121.2 This standard is used to measure and describe theresponse of materials,products,or assemblies to heat and flameunder controlled conditions,but

4、 does not by itself incorporateall factors required for fire hazard or fire risk assessment of thematerials,products,or assemblies under actual fire conditions.1.3 Fire testing is inherently hazardous.Adequate safe-guards for personnel and property shall be employed inconducting these tests.1.4 Thes

5、e test methods are designed and intended as pre-liminary tests to complement quantitative analytical techniquesthat are useful to determine flammability.These test methodsoffer the option and the ability to screen waste for hazardousflammability potential when the analytical techniques are notavaila

6、ble or the total waste composition is unknown.1.5 UnitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard.Thevalues stated in each system are not necessarily exact equiva-lents;therefore,to ensure conformance with the standard,eachsystem shall be used

7、independently of the other,and valuesfrom the two systems shall not be combined.1.6 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety,health,and environmental practi

12、t specimen is exposed to heat andflame.The sample is reported as having a positive or negativeflammability potential as described in the test procedure.4.2 Method BSparks from a flint lighter are introduced tothe vapor space immediately above a representative specimenof a waste,and observation is ma

13、de for a flash in the vaporspace or ignition of the specimen.A flash in the vapor space orignition and burning of the waste indicates a positive flamma-bility potential at ambient temperature.5.Significance and Use5.1 These test methods are intended for use by those in thewaste management industries
