2、st revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of lastreapproval.A superscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This standard covers the selection and proportioning ofsoils and emulsified or cutback asphalts and the fabrication of100-mm

3、 4-in.diameter by 65-mm 2.5-in.high test speci-mens.1.2 All observed and calculated values shall conform to theguidelines for significant digits and rounding established inPractice D6026.1.2.1 The procedures used to specify how data are collected/recorded or calculated in the standard are regarded a

4、s industrystandard.In addition,they are representative of the significantdigits that generally should be retained.The procedures useddo not consider material variation,purpose for obtaining thedata,special purpose studies,or any considerations for theusers objectives;and it is common practice to inc

5、rease orreduce significant digits of reported data to be commensuratewith these considerations.It is beyond the scope of thisstandard to consider significant digits used in analysis methodsfor engineering design.1.3 UnitsThe values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units presented in brackets

6、are to be regarded sepa-rately as standard.The values stated in each system may not beexact equivalents;therefore,each system shall be used inde-pendently of the other.Combining values from the two systemsmay result in non-conformance with the standard.1.3.1 The gravitational system of inch-pound un

7、its is usedwhen dealing with inch-pound units.In this system,the pound(lbf)represents a unit of force(weight)while the unit for massis slugs.The rationalized slug unit is not given,unless dynamic(F=ma)calculations are involved.1.3.2 It is common practice in the engineering/constructionprofession to

8、concurrently use pounds to represent both a unitof mass(lbm)and of force(lbf).This implicitly combines twoseparate systems of units;that is,the absolute system and thegravitational system.It is scientifically undesirable to combinethe use of two separate sets of inch-pound units within a singlestand

9、ard.As stated,this standard includes the gravitationalsystem of inch-pound units and does not use/present the slugunit for mass.However,the use of balances or scales recordingpounds of mass(lbm)or recording in lbm/ft3shall not beregarded as nonconformance with this standard.1.4 This standard offers

10、a set of instructions for performingone or more specific operations.This document cannot replaceeducation or experience and should be used in conjunctionwith professional judgment.Not all aspects of this standardmay be applicable in all circumstances.This ASTM standard isnot intended to represent or

11、 replace the standard of care bywhich the adequacy of a given professional service must bejudged,nor should this document be applied without consid-eration of a projects many unique aspects.The word“Stan-dard”in the title of this document means only that thedocument has been approved through the AST
