2、ses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon(e)indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This specification covers the dry pigment commerciallyknown as Prussian blue,Chinese blue,Milori blue,or ironblue.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:D

3、 387 Test Method for Color and Strength of Color Pig-ments with a Mechanical Muller2D 1135 Test Methods for Chemical Analysis of Blue Pig-ments33.Composition and Properties3.1 The pigment shall be the blue product formed by thereaction of a solution of iron salts with a ferrocyanide orferricyanide s

4、olution.It shall be free from admixture of anysubstances other than those added during manufacture,in smallamounts up to a total of 5%,for the purpose of improving thequality or working properties,or both,of the pigment.Extend-ers,and diluents such as barium sulfate,silica,silicates,calcium carbonat

5、e,calcium sulfate,magnesium carbonate,etc.,shall be absent.The pigment shall conform to the followingrequirements:Total matter soluble in water,max,%1.0Moisture,max,%8.0Organic colors or lakesnoneAcidity or alkalinitythe acidity or alkalinity of the aqueous extract,with methylorange indicator,shall

6、not exceed the chemical equivalent of 0.1%of sulfuricacid,calculated on the dry pigment.3.2 The mass color and character of the tint and the tintingstrength formed by a mixture with a white pigment shall bewithin mutually agreed upon limits of a standard acceptable toboth the purchaser and the selle

7、r.NOTE1The physical properties and tests of iron blue,particularly thetinting strength,are considered a better measure of value than thepercentages of chemical constituents.4.Sampling4.1 Two samples shall be taken at random from differentpackages from each lot,batch,days pack,or other unit orproduct

8、ion in a shipment.When no markings distinguishingbetween units or production appear,samples shall be takenfrom different packages in the ratio of two samples for each 5tons(inch-pound or SWI),except that for shipments of lessthan 10 000 lb two samples shall be taken.At the option of thepurchaser,the

9、 samples may be tested separately or afterblending in equal quantities the samples from the sameproduction unit to form a composite sample.5.Test Methods5.1 Tests shall be conducted in accordance with the appro-priate ASTM test methods.Test procedures not covered byASTM test methods shall be mutuall
