8、4in.,and 1 in.Sheet sizes may be 3 or 4 ft in width andlengths of 3,5,6,10,or 12 ft.Purchaser must specify sheetsizes or strip sizes when ordering.3.2 Joint filler in strip form is cut from the sheets asmanufactured.When ordering joint filler strips,the purchasermust specify thickness,width,and leng
9、th;strip widths areavailable from 2 in.(50 mm)in increments of12in.(13 mm).4.Materials4.1 Sponge RubberThe joint filler shall consist of pre-formed strips of a durable,elastic sponge rubber compound,using synthetic rubber or natural rubber as a base and contain-ing no reclaimed rubber or factice.Unl
10、ess otherwise specified,the sponge rubber shall have a cement gray color to blend withconcrete in appearance.4.2 Cork and Self-Expanding CorkThe joint filler shallconsist of preformed strips that have been formed from cleangranulated cork particles securely bound together by a syn-thetic resin of an
11、 insoluble nature.4.3 Recycled PVCThe joint filler shall consist of pre-formed strips that have been extruded using scrap PVCmaterial and using either no binder or a synthetic resin of aninsoluble nature to securely bind it together.Unless otherwisespecified,the recycled PVC should have a cement gra
12、y color toblend with concrete in appearance.4.4 Preformed strips of expansion joint fillers shall be ofsuch character as not to be deformed or broken by ordinaryhandling when exposed to atmospheric conditions.Pieces ofthe joint filler which have been damaged shall be rejected.1This specification is
