6、Composition and Properties3.1 All types of pigment shall consist of a complex com-posite of alkaline earth silicates and borates and shall conformto the requirements of Table 1.3.2 The mass color of the dry pigment is white.The shadeand tinting strength when specified shall be equal to that of arefe
7、rence sample mutually agreed upon between the purchaserand the seller.3.3 Particle Size:3.3.1 All types are characterized by major amounts ofparticles in the 1 to 10-m range.Coarse particles retained ona 45-m(No.325)sieve shall be less than 0.3%.Themaximum specific surface diameter(SSD)shall be 2.5-
8、m.3.3.2 Where closer control within a class or type is required,the fineness requirements shall be as agreed upon between thepurchaser and the seller.4.Sampling4.1 Two samples shall be taken at random from differentpackages from each lot,batch,days pack,or other unit ofproduction in a shipment.When
9、no markings distinguishingbetween units of production appear,samples shall be takenfrom different packages,in the ratio of two samples for each 10000 lb(5000 kg),except that for shipments of less than 10 000lb two samples shall be taken.At the option of the purchaser,the samples may be tested separa
10、tely or after blending in equalquantities the samples from the same production unit to form acomposite sample.5.Test Methods5.1 Tests shall be conducted in accordance with the follow-ingASTM test methods.Test procedures not covered byASTMtest methods shall be mutually agreed upon between thepurchase
