4、continuous ranges of sizes as produced by mining,handling,crushing,screening,etc.In the case of special mixtures,or where the sieve analysis indicates a substantial deviation from a normal gradation of sizes,a sufficiently complete sieve analysis to properly describe the size com-position shail be m
5、ade and reported in accord-ance with Method D 4 1 O.1.2 This test method does not cover the stan-dardization of sieves used in the commercial preparation of coal.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard.1.4 This standard may involve hazardous ma-terials,operations

13、elected as follows:6.1.1 The sieve defining the upper limit shall be the smallest sieve of the series given in Section 5 upon which is retained a total of less than 5%of the sample.The sieve defining the lower limit shall be the largest sieve of the series given in Section 5 through which passes a t
14、otal of less than 15%of the sample.6.1.2 The terms for defining sizes shall be written with the upper limiting sieve first,fol-lowed by an X and that foilowed by the lower limiting sieve.The abbreviation in.shall follow the lower limiting sieve but may be omitted&er the upper limiting sieve.For siev
