3、 Defense.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers requirements,test methods,assembly,and methods of marking for chlorinated poly(vinylchloride)plastic hot-and cold-water distribution system com-ponents made in one standard dimension ratio and intended forwater service up to and including 180F(82C).Thes

4、e com-ponents comprise pipe and tubing,socket-type fittings,streetfittings,plastic-to-metal transition fittings,solvent cements,and adhesives.Requirements and methods of test are includedfor materials,workmanship,dimensions and tolerances,hydro-static sustained pressure strength,and thermocycling re

5、sis-tance.The components covered by this specification areintended for use in residential and commercial,hot and cold,potable water distribution systems.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only,whichare chemically compatible

6、 with the piping materials.Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanufacturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedure

7、s prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE1Pressurized(compressed)air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safteyhazards should a system fail for any reason.1.3 The text of this specification references notes,footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory

8、material.Thesenotes and footnotes(excluding those in tables and figures)shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard.The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents;there

9、fore,eachsystem shall be used independently of the other.Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.NOTE2Suggested hydrostatic design stresses and hydrostatic pressureratings for pipe,tubing,and fittings are listed in Appendix X1.Design andinstallation consid

10、erations are discussed in Appendix X2.An optionalperformance qualification and an in-plant quality control program arerecommended in Appendix X3.1.5 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest method portion,Sections 9 and 10,of this specification:This standard does not purport to a
