3、s is one of several related appearance attributesthat produce the sensation of glossiness.For this reason,specular glossmeasurements may not always correlate well with visual rankings ofglossiness.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated with its use.

7、ith the mirror imageof the axis of illumination.4.Significance and Use4.1 This test method may be used to evaluate the differencein gloss of dried films of emulsion floor polishes when the lightreflected at a 60 angle is measured.Extremely high-orlow-gloss polishes may not be differentiated at a 60

8、angle.A20 angle measured in accordance with Test Method D523may give better definition of gloss.5.Apparatus5.1 GlossmeterThe instrument and the reference stan-dards shall conform to the requirements prescribed in TestMethod D523,using an angle of reflection of 60.5.2 Floor Polish ApplicatorThe equip

9、ment for applicationof the floor polish shall conform to the requirements prescribedin Test Methods D1436.6.Substrates6.1 Two standard substrates are commonly used;however,commercial types may be used to test specific applications.Better agreement of results can be expected when black glassis used a

10、s the substrate,except for those cases where thesample being tested produces a hazy film.Where a hazy film isproduced,black glass should not be employed as the substrate.The standard types are as follows:6.1.1 Black Glass,3,4having a highly polished plane surfacewith a refractive index of 1.567.6.1.

11、2 Offcial Vinyl Composition Tile,5new and unused.7.Procedure7.1 Apply the floor polish to the substrate in accordancewith the procedures described in Test Methods D1436.MethodA,using the automatic dip coater,can be expected to givebetter agreement of results.For comparison of results,the samemethod

12、of application must be used.7.2 Determine the specular gloss at 60 in accordance withTest Method D523.1This test method is under the jurisdiction ofASTM Committee D21 on Polishesand is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D21.04 on Performance Tests.Current edition approved March 1,2017.Publish
