、admixtures in the preparation of graded aggregate roadmaterials.1.1.1 Method A,Total ChloridesAdd an excess of astandard silver nitrate solution to the filtered sample;backtitrate the excess silver with a standard ammonium thiocyanatesolution to a red-orange endpoint using Volhard indicator.1.1.2 Me
、thod B,Calcium ChlorideCalcium in an alkalinesolution is titrated with standard EDTA solution using calceinmodified as an indicator. The color change is from green toblue.1.1.3 Method C,Magnesium ChlorideCalcium and mag-nesium,in a solution buffered to a pH of 10,are titrated withstandard EDTA soluti
、on using eriochrome black T as anindicator. The color change is from red to blue.Magnesiumchloride is calculated by subtracting the EDTAcalcium equiva-lent volume determined in the analysis for calcium chloridefrom the total EDTA volume used,to obtain the magnesiumEDTA equivalent by difference.1.1.4
、Method D,Alkali ChlorideAlkali chlorides are cal-culated from the difference of the total chloride and calciumand magnesium determinations.NOTE1These test methods assume that the aggregate did not containsignificant amounts of the water-soluble chlorides in question before theadmixture was added. If
、significant amounts of these chlorides are knownor suspected to be present, the aggregate shall be tested for theseconstituents according to these test methods and the proper correctionsmade.1.2 All observed and calculated values shall conform to theguidelines for significant digits and rounding esta
