3、r 2 to 35 kV wire and cable,of at least 0.030 in.(0.76mm)nominal thickness,consisting substantially of pigmentedpolyethylene.1.2 In many instances the jacket material cannot be testedunless it has been formed around a conductor or cable.Therefore,tests done on jacketed wire and cable in thisspecific
4、ation are solely to determine the relevant property ofthe jacket material and not to test the jacketed conductor orcompleted cable.1.3 Whenever two sets of values are presented,in differentunits,the values in the first set are the standard,while those inparentheses are for information only.1.4 This

8、3.2.1 aging,(act of),nexposure of materials to air at 100C for either 24 or 48 h.4.Physical Properties4.1 The polyethylene before application to the wire or cableshall comply with the requirements for Type I,Class C,Category 4 or 5,Grade E5 or J3 of Specification D1248,orClass B with equivalent weat
9、hering requirements to Class Cmaterials.The requirements of Specification D1248 shall notapply to the jacket removed from the wire or cable.Thecompound is suitable for exposure to sunlight and otheratmospheric environments at temperatures between 55and+75 C,and a minimum installation temperature of
10、40C.4.2 Specimens removed from the wire or cable and tested at20 to 28 C(68 to 82 F)shall conform to the requirements forphysical properties specified in Table 1.Alternatively,thejacket shall be air-oven aged without removal from theconductor.4.3 Environmental Stress-Cracking TestThe jacket shallcon
11、form to the requirements for Grade E5 as specified inTable 3 of Specification D1248.4.4 Absorption CoeffcientSee Test Method D3349.In-stead of testing the jacket removed from the conductors,acertification by the polyethylene compound manufacturer thatthis requirement has been complied with shall suf
