3、specification covers woven burlap fabrics,satu-rated with either asphalt or refined coal-tar,as specified by thepurchaser,for use in the membrane system of roofing orwaterproofing or as specified by the manufacturer.1.1.1 Asphalt-saturated burlap fabric shall be used withasphalt base plying cement;t
4、ypical ones are mopping asphaltsconforming to Specifications D312/D312M,D449/D449M,orappropriate solvent-bearing bituminous materials.1.1.2 Coal-tar-saturated burlap fabric shall be used withcoal-tar base plying cements;typical ones are coal-tar pitchesconforming to Specification D450/D450M,or appro

9、1 DefinitionsFor definitions of terms used in thisspecification,refer to Terminology D1079.4.Materials and Manufacture4.1 The fabric to be saturated shall be composed of 100%jute fiber except for two cotton threads in each selvage.If theselvage is used,it shall be no more than 6 mm 14in.wide.Themini
10、mumfabricconstructionusedshallbe180 g m25.4 oz yd2 minimum burlap.4.2 In the process of manufacture,the dry burlap fabric shallbe saturated with bitumen.5.Physical Properties5.1 The material shall conform to the physical propertiesprescribed in Table 1.5.2 The rolls shall not crack nor be so sticky
11、as to causetearing or material damage upon being unrolled at temperaturesbetween 10 and 60 C 50 and 140 F.5.3 Resistance to RottingThe average percentage of theoriginal strength retained by the saturated product shall be atleast 1.75 times that retained by the control sample after oneweek.6.Workmans
