2、,in the case of revision,the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This specification covers a crosslinked insulating com-pound for electrical wires and

3、cables.The rubber polymer isprimarily composed of synthetic rubber.1.2 This type of insulation is suitable for continuous opera-tion at conductor temperatures not exceeding 90C in drylocations,and operating voltages not exceeding 2000 V.Thisinsulation may have low-temperature limitations.Consult the

4、manufacturer for specific recommendations for installation.1.3 In many instances the insulation cannot be tested unlessit has been formed around a conductor.Therefore,tests aredone on insulated wire in this standard solely to determine therelevant property of the insulation and not to test the condu

8、 Test Methods D470.5.Electrical Requirements5.1 Order of TestingPerform the ac voltage,insulationresistance,and dc voltage tests in that order when any of thesetests are required.The sequence for other testing is notspecified.5.2 AC Voltage TestUnless otherwise specified,omit thistest if the dc volt

9、age test described in 5.4 is to be performed.Test each insulated conductor for 5 min at the ac withstandvoltage given in Table number 1Aof Test Methods D470 underthe columns labeled“Other Than Ozone-Resisting Insula-tions.”5.3 Insulation Resistance:5.3.1 The insulated conductor shall have an insulat

10、ionresistance value of at least that corresponding to a constant of4000 at 60 F(15.6 C).5.3.2 If the temperature at the time measurement was madediffers from 60 F(15.6 C)correct the insulation resistance to60 F.Table number 2 of Test Methods D470 contains thecorrection factors.Each insulation manufa
