8、trips are immersed ina given quantity of sample in closed containers and held atroom temperature for 10 days.At the end of this period,thestrips are removed and examined.4.Significance and Use4.1 These tests are to be used as a guide in selecting oreliminating certain solvents or grades of solvents
9、used forcleaning or degreasing metal parts.5.Apparatus5.1 FlaskErlenmeyer flask,borosilicate glass,125 mLcapacity,with a 24/40 standard-taper joint.5.2 Reflux CondenserCondenser with a 24/40 standard-taper joint,650 mm in length.5.3 BathOil or water bath,for maintaining a temperatureslightly higher
10、than the initial boiling point of the sample.Asupport shall be provided to hold the flask upright.5.4 ThermometerAn ASTM High Distillation Thermom-eter having a range from 30 F to 760 F and conforming to therequirements for Thermometer 8F or a range from 2 C to400 C conforming to the requirements fo
