8、ty are then used to estimate the mean relativemolecular mass from a correlation chart.4.Significance and Use4.1 This test method provides a means of calculating themean relative molecular mass of petroleum oils from anotherphysical measurement.4.2 Mean relative molecular mass is a fundamental physic
9、alconstant that can be used in conjunction with other physicalproperties to characterize hydrocarbon mixtures.5.Procedure5.1 Determine the kinematic viscosity of the oil at 100 Fand 210 F(37.78 C and 98.89 C)as described in TestMethod D445 or Test Method D7042.5.2 Look in Table 1 for 100 F(37.78 C)v
10、iscosity and readthe value of H that corresponds to the measured viscosity.Linear interpolation between adjacent columns may be re-quired.5.3 Read the viscositymean relative molecular mass chartfor H and 210 F(98.89 C)viscosity.A simplified version ofthis chart is shown in Fig.1 for illustration pur
