8、crease in fineness modulus(as defined in Terminology C 125)and the increase in amount of material finer than the 75-m(No.200)sieve.4.Significance and Use4.1 The tendency of some fine aggregates,including thosethat comply with the requirements of Specification C 33,todegrade from the grinding action
9、in a concrete mixer mayaffect mixing water demand,entrained air,and slump.When itis suspected that degradation during mixing is a problem,thistest method may be useful for evaluating the extent of theproblem.4.2 This test method is of use for preliminary screening toindicate the need for further eva
10、luation through petrographicexamination(Guide C 295)or testing the quality of mortar,orconcrete,or both made from the fine aggregate in question.4.3 This test method is of use for comparing the resultsobtained with unknown materials against those with materialsof known performance in concrete.5.Appa
