7、ave promise as ball-and roller-bearing lubri-cants for use under the temperature limitations described in the test method.The nature of the test is such that close discrimination between lubricants cannot be made.4.Apparatus 4.1 The apparatus required for this test is de-scribed in detail in Appendi
8、x X1.New bail bear-ings of the type described are required for each test.5.Sampling 5.1 Take the sample of grease for test with a minimum of disturbance.Do not reincorporate any free oil that may have separated or include this oil when taking the sample.6.Test Units 6.1 Use No.3OBCO3506 ball bearing
9、s.These bearings may also be specified as 306ABEC Class 3,deep grooved radial bearings with pressed-steei retainers.The internal radial clearance shall be 0.008 to 0.0 18 rnrn(0.0003 to 0.0007 in.).The bearings shall be heat stabilized for operation up to 160C and they shall be cleaned ultrasonicall
10、y after assembly and then packed with filtered slushing compound.See Appendix X2for the method of measuring internal radial clearance.7.Preparation of Bearings 7.1 This technique is intended for use in re-moving protective coating materials from new bearings prior to use for test purposes.It is not

16、able.7.2.2 Follow this solvent rinse bath by a sec-ond flushing and slow rotation in a hot(mini-mum 65C)solvent rinse of the composition given in 7.3.6.Drain the bearings on absorbent paper to remove most of the solvent rinse solu-tion,and dry in an oven at 70C for 15 to 30 min.Make a close inspection of the bearings after the cleaning process to ensure that they are initially rust-free and free turning prior to the test.Take care not to spin the bearings when they are clean and dry.Also wash an
