3、loys of zinc,tin and lead.Those designations currently beingused in specifications under the jurisdiction of Committees B02on Nonferrous Metals are listed in Table X2.1 in AppendixX2.NOTE1The alloy designations now being used in Committee B07specifications for aluminum and aluminum-alloy wrought and

4、 cast prod-ucts conform toANSI H35.1.Alloys formerly codified by this practice andthe corresponding ANSI designations are shown in Tables X3.1 and X3.2of Appendix X3 for legacy purposes.NOTE2The alloy designations now being used in Committee B07specifications for magnesium and magnesium-alloy wrough

8、ANSI Standard:4H35.1 Alloy and Temper Designation Systems for Alumi-num3.Basis of Codification3.1 The designations for alloys and unalloyed metals arebased on their chemical composition limits.3.2 Designations shall be assigned,revised,and cancelledby Subcommittee B02.04 of ASTM Committee B02 on Non

9、-ferrous Metals and Alloys on written requests to its chairman.Complete chemical composition limits shall be submitted withrequest for assignment or revision of designations.Arbitraryassignments by other subcommittees or committees will not berecognized.4.Alloys4.1 Designation for alloys shall consi

10、st of not more than twoletters representing the alloying elements(Note 3)specified inthe greatest amount,arranged in order of decreasingpercentages,or in alphabetical order if of equal percentages,followed by the respective percentages rounded off to wholenumbers and a serial letter(Notes 4 and 5).T

11、he full name ofthe base metal precedes the designation,but it is omitted forbrevity when the base metal being referred to is obvious.NOTE3For codification,an alloying element is defined as an element(other than the base metal)having a minimum content greater than zeroeither directly specified or com

12、puted in accordance with the percentagesspecified.NOTE4The serial letter is arbitrarily assigned in alphabetical se-quence starting with“A”(omitting“I”and“O”)and serves to differentiateotherwise identical designations.A serial letter is necessary to completeeach designation.NOTE5The designation of a

13、 casting alloy in ingot form is derivedfrom the composition specified for the corresponding alloy in the form ofcastings.Thus,a casting ingot designation may consist of an alloydesignation having one or more serial letters,one for each productcomposition,or it may consist of one or more alloy design
