3、ard thermoplastic pipe dimension ratios andpressure rated for water(see Appendix X1).Included arecriteria for classifying ABS plastic pipe materials and ABSplastic pipe,a system of nomenclature for ABS plastic pipe,and requirements and test methods for materials,workmanship,dimensions,sustained pres
4、sure,burst pressure,and extrusionquality.Methods of marking are also given.1.2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids,which arechemically compatible with the piping materials.Consult withthe manufacturer and local building codes be
5、fore use in otherapplications.Due to inherent hazards associated with testingcomponents and systems with compressed air or other com-pressed gases some manufacturers do not allow pneumatictesting of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers for their specific testing proce
6、duresprior to pneumatic testing.NOTE1Pressurized(compressed)air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safetyhazards should a system fail for any reason.NOTE2Exposure to ultraviolet radiation over a long period of timemay affect the physical properties
7、of ABS pipe.Consult the manufacturerfor recommendations for handling,storage,and installations that are notprotected by insulation.1.3 Pipe meeting the requirements of this standard is notcompatible with DWV fittings.The ABS pipe covered in thisstandard is intended for pressure service and it shall
8、be joinedto pressure fittings.Non-pressure fittings,such as DWV fittingsfrom any material(ABS,PVC,CPVC,etc.)are not acceptablefor pressure applications.1.4 The text of this specification references notes,footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material.Thesenotes and footnotes(excluding t
