3、ion strategies in the latest opening speech of Boao Forum for Asia (referred to “BFA”) from the perspective of the functional equivalence theory with the research methods as qualitative analysis and case analysis on which we are going to learn the skills of vocabulary, syntax and discourse. The opening speech of BFA is a text with high seriousness, so the native and formal expressions will help foreigners better fully understand Chinese culture.The thesis analyzes the translation s

In lexical features, the main method usually use literal translation, omission, addition and word formation; In syntax features, the main method can be active voice to passive voice, adding subject, and positive

The deep understanding of functional equivalence theory can help translate speech of BFA better for further study.1.1 Background of the studyThe
15、 functional equivalence theory is put forward by Eugene Nida. The theory contains two aspects: formal equivalence and functional equivalence. The formal equivalence means that the translation and the original text should express the same meaning and the choice of words should be natural and native.
16、The functional equivalence means that when readers read the translation, they can feel the same emotion as the original text gives to them. Nida thinks the functional equivalence as more practical and important, but it does not mean that formal equivalence is not important. A best translation should have both.
