3、overs poly(vinyl chloride)(PVC)Schedule 40 pipe fittings.Included are requirements formaterials,workmanship,dimensions,and burst pressure.NOTE1Socket-type CPVC plastic pipe fittings,Schedule 40,whichwere formerly included in this standard,are now covered by SpecificationF438.1.2 The products covered

4、 by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only,whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials.Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases,somemanufacturers do not allow pn

5、eumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE2Pressurized(compressed)air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safteyhazards should a system

6、fail for any reason.1.3 Fitting such as unions,flanges,special plastic-to-metaltransitions and appurtenances intended for use with PVCpiping are covered under specification F1970.1.4 The text of this specification references notes,footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material.Thesenote
